112TH SESSION OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE ELIMINATION OF ALL FORMS OF RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
2024-04-08 - 2024-04-29Docip has the pleasure to forward you three important messages from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the UN Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples (UNVFIP).
Pursuant to General Assembly Resolution A/RES/71/321 which aims at enhancing the participation of indigenous peoples’ representatives and institutions in meetings of relevant United Nations bodies on issues affecting them, an Interactive hearings will take place at the margins of the 18th session of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (PFII) on 25 April 2019 from 3:00-6:00pm.
Applications for funding by the UNVFIP for participation at the interactive hearings are accepted until 18 January 2019.
The Committee on Enforced Disappearance invites all interested parties to submit written contributions regarding the Draft Guiding Principles for the Search for Disappeared Persons. Principle 14.4 of the draft guiding principles refers to indigenous peoples: “In cases involving disappeared persons who are members of indigenous peoples or other ethnic or cultural groups, there is a need to consider and respect specific cultural patterns when dealing with the disappearance or death of a member of the community, which may require the use of different search rules. An effective search should involve the provision of translators of the languages of the affected groups and bicultural interpreters of their cultural patterns, whose knowledge may be a prerequisite for an effective search”.
The deadline to submit these contributions is 25 January 2019. The written contributions should not exceed 3,300 words and should be submitted in Word format to the Secretariat of the Committee at the following email address: ced(at)ohchr.org.
The contributions should follow the following format:
a) General comments, if any;
b) Comments to specific principles. Please indicate the principle and paragraph to which the comment is related (e.g. principle 5, paragraph 1);
c) If contributors want to propose additional text, please copy the original principle and paragraph and include the proposed text in track changes.
The Committee on the Rights of the Child is currently revising its General Comment No. 10 (2007) on children’s rights in juvenile justice.
The Committee now invites all interested parties to comment on the current draft of its revised General Comment No. 10 (2007).
Comments are welcome on all aspects of the draft General Comment, with a particular focus on the following issues :
After due consideration of inputs provided, the Committee will decide on the contents of the final version of the General Comment.
