Questionnaire on the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

2017-06-07

Docip has the pleasure to inform you on a message from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).

Questionnaire in relation to national action plans to achieve the ends of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) are currently drafting a guidance note on national action plans to achieve the ends of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. OHCHR and UNDESA hope to include examples in the guidance note. This questionnaire seeks to collect examples from indigenous peoples for this purpose. A questionnaire has also been provided to States and national human rights institutions.

The questionnaire is set out below and will be made available on the OHCHR and UNDESA websites at http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Issues/IPeoples/Pages/IndigenousPeoplesIndex.aspx and https://www.un.org/development/desa/indigenouspeoples/. The responses of indigenous peoples to the questionnaire will also be made available on the OHCHR and UNDESA websites.

This questionnaire is deliberately designed to emulate, as much as possible, the questionnaire to States and national human rights institutions so as to facilitate easy comparison in responses and generate ideas for partnerships between States, indigenous peoples and national human rights institutions to achieve the ends of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Please submit your responses by 30 June 2017 via e-mail to ipmsconsultant2(at)ohchr.org.
