Questionnaire on "Human Rights and Climate Change" (OHCHR)

2017-11-20

Docip has the pleasure to inform you on a message from the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Questionnaire on "Human Rights and Climate Change"

Dear Sir/Madam,

I write to invite your contribution to the research and report that the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is preparing in accordance with Human Rights Council resolution A/HRC/35/20 entitled "Human Rights and Climate Change". The text of the resolution is available on the internet.

In paragraph 12 of the above-mentioned resolution, the Council requested that the OHCHR undertake research on "addressing human rights protection gaps in the context of migration and displacement of persons across international borders resulting from the sudden-onset and slow-onset adverse effects of climate change and the necessary means of implementation of adaptation and mitigation plans of developing countries to bridge the protection gaps".

The report will be submitted to the Council at its thirty-eighth session. Therefore, the OHCHR invites interested organizations to submit written inputs to the report by e-mail to registry(at)ohchr.org with a copy to bschachter(at)ohchr.org by no later than 17 February 2018.

In formulating your inputs, the OHCHR welcomes you to respond, as appropriate, to the attached questionnaire. For environmental considerations, electronic submissions are encouraged, and we ask that responses not exceed five pages. Please submit contributions on MS Word or compatible format in English. Inputs received will be posted on our website.

I take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your attention on this matter.

Yours sincerely,

Bat-Erdene Ayush
Chief
Right to Development Section
Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights
