HRC 30th session : Docip technical secretariat, documents, resolutions


The 30th session of the Human Rights Council is taking place from September 14 to October 2, 2015 at the Palais des Nations, in Geneva. The September session of the HRC gathers all issues related to indigenous peoples and this 30th session includes, on Tuesday 22 September 2015:

- the annual Panel on indigenous peoples on the follow-up to and implementation of the outcome of the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples (WCIP), and its implications for the achievement of the ends of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples;

- the presentation of the reports of both the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (SRIP) and the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP);

- the preparation of the two resolutions concerning indigenous peoples.

Docip technical secretariat

Docip will set up a technical secretariat to the attention of the indigenous delegates attending this session from Wednesday 16 September to Friday 25 September 2015 (exact location to be confirmed). It will offer the following free services:

  • Translation to and from English, French, Spanish and Russian
  • Interpretation to and from English, French, Spanish and Russian for informal meetings
  • Information on the HRC 30th session
  • Guidance for new participants
  • Various administrative tasks

Indigenous Caucus

Time and place of the Indigenous Caucus will be communicated as soon as they are known.

Resolutions on Indigenous Peoples

Guatemala and Mexico are preparing the HRC 30 resolutions relating to indigenous peoples, i.e. the resolution on indigenous peoples and the resolution on the future mandate of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Concerning the 2nd resolution on EMRIP mandate, negotiations, open to indigenous delegates, will take place as follows at the Palais des Nations:

  • Wednesday 16 September 2015, 15:00 - 18:00, Room XXVII
  • Friday 18 September, 10:00 - 13:00, Room XXVII
  • Monday 21 September, 10.00 - 13:00, Room XXVII
