The 17th session's theme is “Indigenous peoples’ collective rights to lands, territories and resources”.

This session will also address: the implementation of the six mandated areas of the PFII with reference to the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP); participation of indigenous peoples at the UN; the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the follow-up of the outcome document of the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples. A dialogue will also take place with the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (SRRIP) and the Chair of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (EMRIP) with regard to indigenous human rights defenders.
