EMRIP: introduction to the new Docip strategic plan 2016-2018 and consultation on the new EU services

Docip has the pleasure to inform you that it will organise, in the framework of the 8th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the following parallel event:

Introduction to the new Docip strategic plan 2016-2018 and consultation on the new EU services

Thursday, 23 July 2015, 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m.

Room XXV, “E” Building, United Nations, Geneva

Open to all delegates.

With interpretation in English, Spanish, French and Russian

Coffee and croissants served at 8h15 a.m.

Background

On several occasions, indigenous delegates stressed the need to strengthen cooperation with European institutions. Indeed, the EU is a major player in the international arena. The mechanisms of promotions of human rights set up by the European Union provide the opportunity for indigenous peoples to have their voices heard.

At the end of March 2015 DoCip established a representative position to the European Union and now has two correspondents in Brussels. This meeting will be an opportunity to present the new EU services that we make available to delegates. Our correspondents are also available throughout the EMRIP to inform you of the possibilities of action in the European Union and answer your questions. You may contact them at the following address: eu@docip.org

With the support of the European Union, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Canton of Geneva, the City of Geneva
