doCip Volunteer Network
Would you like to participate in an unforgettable experience at the side of indigenous representatives at the UN?
At doCip, we offer motivated students and professionals from around the world unique opportunities to do short- or long-term volunteer work, in-house or by e-mail, during or between international conferences on indigenous issues held in Geneva and New York. Our volunteers have the opportunity to put their knowledge and experience to work as they provide logistical support for indigenous delegations from all over the world. They also acquire new skills while participating in personally and professionally enriching work.
According to our needs, we call on:
Interpreters to and from English, Spanish, French and Russian.
Translators to and from English, Spanish, French and Russian.
Helpdesk personnel for technical support and help transporting and installing our computers during conferences.
People able to help indigenous delegates obtain visas, change airline tickets or perform other similar administrative tasks.
People willing to make photocopies for delegates during conferences and throughout the year.
People willing to gather statements in the conference room for doCip archives and to help publish them on our website.
Volunteers to help prepare press files.
Volunteers for occasional assignments, such as accompanying indigenous delegates in town or to international organisations during the week, particularly (but not only) for Russian delegates
Volunteers to accommodate out-of-town volunteers or indigenous delegates for a few days or take them on a day trip during the week or the weekend.
Volunteers willing to leave their cars at the disposal of doCip as the need arises (occasional trips, tours for indigenous visitors, carrying supplies, etc.)
How do I become involved?
The persons interested are requested to fill in the inscription form as precisely as possible.
Will I receive financial compensation?
Unfortunately, we are unable to give financial contributions towards the travel and accomodations expenses of volunteers coming from abroad. We provide our conference volunteers with snacks during the lunch break and reimburse half-rate (1/2 tarif) train tickets for travel within Switzerland.
What does doCip expect from its volunteers?
We ask our volunteers to indicate the dates they are able to work on our registration form. We send this form out to our volunteers before each conference and request that they return it before the indicated deadline so that we may set up an accurate achedule.
As soon as our volunteers commit to participating in a technical Secretariat, they are morally obliged to respect their commitment.
Last-minute cancellations and schedule changes are not convenient in the organization of the event. The work of the indigenous delegations for the respect of their rights depends also on your commitment!
Any schedule change must be communicated to the doCip prior to the beginning of the event.
What are the benefits of volunteering with doCip?
doCip’s technical Secretariats offer a professional work environment with professional relationship as well as a place of exchange where lasting friendships are built. They offer volunteers personal and professional enrichment through a unique and unforgettable experience within the United Nations alongside indigenous peoples from all over the world.
Upon request, we can deliver certificates to our volunteers documenting their participation in our technical Secretariats.
