Technical Secretariat at the UN

doCip’s technical secretariats take place during international conferences on the rights of indigenous peoples in Geneva and New York. Our goal is to provide logistical support for the work of indigenous delegations that come from all over the world to participate in conferences. Each year, over one hundred volunteers participate in our technical secretariats, and thanks to this network we are able to provide the following free services:

  • Translations to and from English, French, Spanish and Russian
  • Interpretation to and from English, French, Spanish and Russian for informal meetings
  • Documentation and information on the session
  • IT support
  • Gathering and categorizing statements during meetings
  • Guidance for new participants
  • Photocopies and other administrative tasks
  • A link between indigenous delegations and the United Nations
  • A link with other international institutions

In order to provide these services, doCip’s technical secretariat puts the following at the disposal of indigenous peoples:

  • Workspaces
  • Several computers and a printer
  • Internet connections
  • Telephone lines with local service
  • A fax line with local service
  • Photocopiers
  • Office supplies
